Equity – Delivery Long-Term Holding

Buy shares and hold them in your Demat account beyond one day

Equity delivery means you buy shares and hold them in your Demat account, even beyond one day. You become a shareholder until you sell them.

How It Works (Simple Example)

Suppose you buy:

Stock: HDFC Bank
Price: ₹1,500
Quantity: 10 shares
Investment: ₹15,000

You hold it for 10 days and sell at ₹1,650.

Selling Value: 1,650 × 10 = ₹16,500
Profit Before Charges: ₹1,500
No margin involved. No auto square-off.

Top 3 Stocks Example

  • Reliance Industries
  • HDFC Bank
  • TCS

Best For

  • Long-term investors
  • Dividend earning
  • Low stress trading

Important Notes

  • STT applies on selling side
  • No brokerage (in most discount brokers)

Equity – Intraday Same-day Buy & Sell

Buy and sell on the same day with auto square-off

You buy and sell on the same day. Positions are automatically squared off before market close.

How It Works (Example)

Buy Bajaj Finance at ₹6,000 and sell same day at ₹6,120:

Buy Value: 6,000 × 5 shares = ₹30,000
Sell Value: 6,120 × 5 shares = ₹30,600
Gross Profit: ₹600
Broker may offer margin leverage (5X–20X). If you don't close your position → broker auto closes.

Top Stocks Used for Intraday

  • ICICI Bank
  • Tata Steel
  • Bajaj Finance

Best For

  • Traders seeking quick profit
  • Short-term movements

Important Notes

  • Higher brokerage than delivery
  • Auto square-off fees apply
  • Profit depends on quick movements

Equity – Futures Contract Trading

Buy contracts instead of actual shares for future settlement

You don't buy shares directly; you buy a contract representing them for future settlement.

Real Example

HDFC Futures lot size = 550 shares approx.

Buy HDFC Futures at ₹1,600 and sell at ₹1,620

Difference: ₹20 × Lot size (550)
Profit: ₹11,000 before charges
Profit is amplified because lot size is large.

Top Stock Futures Examples

  • Reliance Futures
  • HDFC Futures
  • Maruti Futures

Best For

  • High capital traders
  • Hedging against share movements

Important Notes

  • Requires margin
  • MTM settlement daily
  • Higher risk due to leverage

Equity – Options Right but Not Compulsion

Advance booking of price movement with limited risk

Options are like advance booking of price movement.
You buy Call Option → expecting price to go up
You buy Put Option → expecting price to fall
You pay "Premium".

Real Call Example

Buy:

Contract: Reliance 2600CE
Premium: ₹120
Lot size approx: 250

If premium rises to ₹145:

Profit: (145 − 120) × 250
Total Profit: ₹6,250
No need to buy actual shares.

Popular Options Examples

  • NIFTY 23000CE
  • BankNifty 51000PE
  • Reliance 2600CE

Best For

  • Small capital traders
  • Controlled risk trading
  • Fast momentum plays

Small moves generate money due to lot quantity.
